Sarina Wiegman commended Ella Toone for her constructive response to being omitted from England's original lineup for the Women's World Cup qualifier against Greece, following the recall of the Manchester United midfielder for the opening match on Friday in Heraklion, Crete.

Lucy Bronze sustained a minor injury, which Wiegman characterized as "very minor," causing the England right-back to head back to Chelsea. In her place, Wiegman selected Toone, who arrived in Greece on Friday from Spain, where she had arranged a training regimen during the international break.
